Voluminous hair is nothing less than a blessing. While each stroke of comb and every hair rinse seems to pull out at least half of our hair, fuller looking mane seems like a distant dream. However, one aromatic herb has the power to reverse the scenes. As the headline suggests, we are talking about the aromatic curry leaves. Curry leaves are loaded with properties that can work wonders for your hair volume and lead to dense hair and hair growth.

HealthShots spoke to Dr Nivedita Dadu, Renowned Dermatologist, who unveiled many benefits of using curry leaves to stop hair fall and get dense hair.

“Curry leaves are rich in antioxidants and proteins that neutralise the free radicals and keep the hair healthy and strong. From getting rid of an itchy scalp to reversing grey hair and from hair loss to combatting dullness, curry leaves have a myriad of benefits. Vitamin B in curry leaves helps to restore colour in the hair by nourishing and strengthening the roots.,” says Dr Dadu, who is also the founder and chairman of Dadu Medical Centre.

Here are 4 ways to use curry leaves to get voluminous hair:

1. Curd and curry leaf hair mask

To make a hair mask of curry leaves, mix curd with curry leaves. Curd works as a hydrating scalp cleanse and removes all the dead cells and dandruff from the scalp. First, take a handful of curry leaves and blend the curry leaves into a thick paste. Then add one tablespoon of the curry leaves paste to the whisked curd. Mix these two ingredients well until they form a paste of smooth consistency. Apply the mask and massage the scalp. Then, leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes and wash it off with shampoo. This will give your hair a blinding shine.

2. Amla, methi and curry leaf growth potion

When curry leaves are used with amla and methi, it boosts hair growth. Curry leaves contain vitamin B that helps to strengthen the roots of the hair. To make this paste, take half a cup of curry and methi leaves and add the flesh of one amla to it. Grind it into a fine paste. Apply this paste all over the scalp, and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse it off with normal or lukewarm water. This potion will make your hair grow faster.

3. Coconut curry leaf tonic

“Voluminous hair requires a healthy and clean scalp to grow well. To make hair tonic, we need coconut oil and curry leaves. Coconut oil contains fatty acids and vitamins that will help the hair look fuller and healthy. To make this, take a pan and pour coconut oil into it and add a handful of curry leaves to it. Heat the oil then turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down. After the tonic is cool, strain it and apply it to the hair,” says Dr Dadu.

4. Onion and curry leaf hair fall treatment

The combination of onion juice and curry leaves for hair is a power-packed duo that helps prevent premature greying and controls hair fall while strengthening the hair follicles. Take 15-20 fresh curry leaves and put the leaves in a blender to make a smooth paste. Then add onion juice in the paste. Keep this paste on your hair for around an hour. Then, rinse it out properly with water before shampooing to make sure there is no residual smell from the onion.
