All we want is thick and voluminous hair that seems straight out of a shampoo commercial. But our poor lifestyle habits and external factors like dirt, pollution, UV rays and hard water shatters our dreams of getting good volume in the hair. Your hair is your permanent crown, ladies. This makes it essential to take good care of your mane. And what’s better than nourishing your hair from the inside? Topical application of things only makes for a tiny fragment of haircare. It is what we eat that reflects on our skin and tresses.

On our lookout to find the exact nourishment our hair needs, we came across an Instagram video shared by Juhi Kapoor, Fitness Trainer, Nutritionist and food coach.

The informative video shared by Kapoor listed 6 superb foods that can increase the volume of the hair and help them grow faster and stronger. Not only did she share the right foods to eat, but also the correct ways to consume them for better results. Her post claimed that these 6 food items will give guaranteed results on your hair health.

Listed below are 6 foods to get voluminous hair and speed up hair growth:

1. Curd

Homemade curd makes for a perfect accompaniment with each meal. Kapoor suggests eating curd with a little sweet or salt added to it. Not only this, one should avoid eating curd which is refrigerated and always consume it at room temperature. The recommended daily amount for curd is 75-90 gram.

2. Green moong

Green moong is a powerhouse of essential minerals and nutrients. It is also a superb source of protein which is what our hair is made of. Always sprout and then use green moong for maximum nutrition. The good quality plant protein and high vitamin B content in green moong is bound to give you voluminous hair. Eat 2-3 tbsp soaked and sprouted or 1 bowl of it in dal form.

3. Raisins

The black raisins are loaded with iron and are best eaten in soaked form. They are also rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that might help you get radiant skin and thick hair. One must eat at 7-8 raisins everyday to get long and shiny hair.

4. Sesame seeds

A perfect source of plant protein, sesame seeds help your hair grow out and gain volume. Every 30 grams of sesame seeds contain around 5 grams of protein. Eat 1 tsp roasted sesame seeds daily to get voluminous hair. Always roast well before consumption for better digestion.

5. Aliv seeds

Nutritionists suggest that the one who includes Aliv seeds in their diet will never fall short of iron levels. Iron and other minerals are also essential for your hair health. Eat 1/8th tsp soaked in milk or water at bedtime for best results.

6. Curry leaves

Ever wondered why your South Indian neighborhood auntie has long and dark hair? Well, it’s the good amount of curry patta in every tadka. Consume curry leaves in your food for some good amount of protein, vitamin B and C, and beta-carotene in it. These nutritional qualities prevent hair from thinning and promote hair growth. Kapoor suggests that chewing 3-5 curry leaves first thing in the morning can also help accelerate hair growth.
