If you find your hair strands scattered all over your house, then you should be concerned. That’s because it points at an unhealthy scalp.  And we’re sorry to say that even those expensive products that you’ve just ordered are not going to help you much, because they are laden with chemicals!

But fret not, just move out from your room and head straight to your kitchen, as it is loaded with home remedies to restore your tresses.

Here are THE five kitchen ingredients that your mane will love:
1. Onion

Has your mum ever applied onion juice to your scalp? Well, we know it stinks but it offers a whole lot of goodness for your hair.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatology found that 74% of its participants experienced hair regrowth just after four weeks of applying onion juice to their scalp. The study attributes this to the presence of dietary sulfur in onions, which is known to boost collagen production, produce healthy skin cells and hair growth.

But don’t apply it for more than 30 minutes.

2. Apple cider vinegar

If you experience heavy sweating on your scalp, itchiness, and dandruff, then only apple cider vinegar can save your hair from breakage. According to dermatologists, dandruff and sweat are the biggest causes of hair loss. But the acidic nature of apple cider vinegar and its antifungal properties help to keep your scalp dry. This leads to stronger hair follicles and less hair breakage.

3. Eggs

“Ma’am, why don’t you get keratin therapy to improve the texture of your hair?” We think no hairdresser has missed out on this statement. That’s because keratin is a protein that your hair needs the most to enhance strength and texture. And ladies, eggs are loaded with it.

“Protein makes the hair shaft smooth. It forms a coating to protect the hair cuticle. This coating is responsible to maintain the texture of the hair and give them shine too. So, you can definitely apply egg whites to strengthen your hair”, says dermatologist Roshini from Apollo Telehealth.

4. Baking soda

Your scalp also needs a nice scrub to eliminate the dust particles. For that, baking soda works wonderfully well. Just add some oil to the baking soda, make a paste, and gently apply and scrub all over your scalp. Baking soda has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which acts as an antiseptic for your scalp. This home hack can literally protect your hair from dust, and pollution allergies and damage.

“Its grainy texture makes baking soda a great exfoliator. But ensure that you scrub it very gently, and not for more than 10 minutes”, says dermatologist, Dr. Rinky Kapoor.

5. Curry leaves

Curry leaves or kadi patta is a rich source of antioxidants that are known to prevent free radicals that damage skin cells. Just crush some fresh curry leaves, and add it to a bottle of coconut oil and store it. Massage it regularly for 30 minutes, and you are good to go.
