Health Shots spoke to skincare expert and green beauty enthusiast Ruchita Acharya, who listed some best face masks that you can use to prevent acne breakouts.

Acharya says, “There are many natural ingredients that promise to control acne issues. So, picking the right one for your specific skin problems can be overwhelming. But when it comes to acne, you need some ingredients that can balance oil and hydration so that you can prevent breakouts.”

Here are 5 DIY face masks to prevent acne breakouts!

1. Multani Mitti and sandalwood face mask

Ingredients you will need:

2 tablespoons of Multani Mitti
1 tablespoon of aloe vera
2 teaspoons of sandalwood powder (an amazing ingredient to control breakouts)

Follow these steps to prepare this face mask:

  • Mix Multani Mitti and aloe vera in a small bowl.
  • Now add a few drops of water and sandalwood powder. Mix all these ingredients well to make a smooth paste.
  • Apply this to your face and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • Now wash your face with lukewarm water and pat it dry.

Multani Mitti will remove the excess oil, dirt, and sweat from your skin, and aloe vera will control and reduce acne-causing bacteria. Apply this mask two to three times a week if you have oily skin.

2. Turmeric and honey face mask

1 teaspoon honey

Follow these steps to prepare this face mask:

  • Take a bowl and add all the ingredients to it.

  • Apply a layer of the paste over your entire face, including your neck.
  • Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

3. Green French clay face mask

Ingredients you will need:

2 tablespoons of green French clay powder
1 tablespoon glycerine
2 teaspoons of green tea powder
Cucumber juice as needed

Follow these steps to prepare this face mask:

  • Add green French clay and green tea powder to the bowl. Mix them well.
  • Now mix glycerine and cucumber juice to make a smooth mixture. Let it sit for a few minutes and your face mask is ready.
  • Gently massage your face with this paste and apply it to your neck as well. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
  • Rice your face and neck with lukewarm water.

French green clay is a natural exfoliant and helps to remove dead skin cells and bacteria. Due to its detoxifying properties, it is the best choice for treating acne issues. Apply this mask once a week.

4. Rice flour and tomato face mask

Ingredients you will need:

2 tablespoons of rice flour
1 tablespoon of honey
2 teaspoons of tomato pulp
Water

Follow these steps to prepare this face mask:

  • Add all these ingredients to a small plate and mix well to make a paste.
  • Apply this to your skin, and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Wash your face with lukewarm water.

2 tablespoons of besan
1 tablespoon of aloe vera
2 tablespoons of papaya pulp

  • To make this face mask, mix besan, aloe vera, papaya pulp, and water.
  • Now apply this mixture to your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

This is a perfect face mask if you want to exfoliate your skin as well. Papaya contains enzymes that exfoliate while balancing oil production that can manage acne problems. Moreover, aloe vera gel has antibacterial properties that are also beneficial in controlling acne.
