Health Shots spoke to Dr Monica Kapoor, a celebrity cosmetologist and Director at FLAWLESS Cosmetic clinics & ILACAD Institute, to find some most effective rose face masks to get clear and glowing skin.

Let us first know the benefits of rose for skin

“Rose petals are anti-bacterial in nature and have astringent properties. They are considered excellent for hydrating the skin and making it soft. It is a rich source of vitamin C and can be used to make a lotion by mixing crushed petals with cucumber juice and glycerin. Rose petals have a soothing and refreshing property which helps to revive and rejuvenate the dry and dull skin,” says Dr Kapoor.

Because of these skin-benefiting properties of rose, applying a freshly made rose petal face pack would not only bring back the lost glow but also treat skin issues such as tanning and acne. Moreover, it has antibacterial properties that are beneficial in helping fight acne. It also helps to calm the skin and remove redness.

1. Rose petal and honey face pack

Honey has abundance of vitamins and minerals in it, can penetrate the skin deeply, thereby providing nourishment to the cells. The antioxidant properties of honey also prevent skin damage. Honey helps in exfoliating the skin and removing the dead skin cells, thus boosting complexion and keeping the skin supple and healthy.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Take petals from a fresh rose and wash them thoroughly. Soak them in some rose water for 3-4 hours. Then, grind the soaked petals and rose water into a fine paste. Once that is ready, take it out and add 3 tablespoons. organic honey to the paste. Mix together and cool down the mixture by freezing it for 20-30 minutes. Apply this face pack gently on the skin, massaging with your fingertips. Then, Wash it off after 15-20 minutes.

2. Rose petal, milk and sandalwood face pack

Raw milk used in this rose face pack is a wonderful cleanser and the sandalwood powder with its antioxidant properties will give the skin a refreshing glow by neutralizing the free radicals. It also helps to unclog the pores and remove impurities, thus helping to achieve clean and healthy skin.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Take petals from 2 fresh roses and crush them to form a paste. To this paste, add 1-2 tablespoons of sandalwood powder and raw milk as required. Mix them well to prepare the face pack. After applying, let it stay on your face till it dries completely. Only then can you wash it off.

3. Aloe vera and rose water

Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer, this face pack works beautifully on the skin, moisturizing as well as rejuvenating it, giving it a natural glow. Aloe vera helps to tighten the skin and improve its texture. Its anti-inflammatory properties combined with that of rose, make this pack an exceptional remedy to fight acne and pimples naturally.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Crush the petals from 2 fresh roses and add two tablespoons. aloe vera gel to it. Mix well to form a smooth paste. If the paste is too thick, add some rose water to it. Apply this paste to your face and neck for 20 minutes then wash it off.

4. Coconut milk, olive oil, and rose petal face pack

Due to its healthy fatty acid content, coconut milk works as an amazing moisturizer for the skin. Coconut milk and olive oil are both loaded with vitamin E, which is great for the skin, protecting it from UV damage as well as helping retain the moisture of the skin. The abundance of vitamins and antioxidants in this pack work together to even out the skin and protect it from damage and can give you glowing skin.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Crush rose petals into a paste and add 4 tablespoons of coconut milk and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to it. Then, mix it well and then apply it to the face.

Other ways to use rose petals to get glowing skin this summer:

Use it as a cleanser: Mash rose petals into the water with honey and use it as a cleanser.

Use it as a toner: just bring your face with rose water after washing your face.

Use it as sunscreen: Mix crushed rose petals with cucumber juice and glycerine to prepare a lotion. Use it as sunscreen.

Use it as a lip balm: Mix coconut oil, shea butter and crushed rose petals with 3-5 drops of essential oil to prepare a lip balm.
