Just like many of you, it came like a shocker to me too. I would have never thought that a household product as common as toothpaste, can actually do wonders for the skin.

This whole idea didn’t just sound absurd to me, but my first instinct was – how would my skin react? But my friend who introduced me to this ‘toothpaste for skin’ funda, has similar skin like mine, and when she told me that it worked well for her,

I felt I should give it a try too. I am glad I did!

Here are some benefits of using toothpaste for skin

  1. Toothpaste helped in giving me an instant glow: Well, first of all, let me tell you that if you want to get this benefit just like me, go for whitening toothpaste. These toothpastes have whitening agents that can help in giving an instant glow. This is how I used it – I took some toothpaste in a bowl, added a teaspoon of honey, and some rose water. I applied this mix evenly on the skin and left it for 10 minutes. Then I washed it with normal water. I followed it up with moisturizer and then applied sunscreen to protect my skin.
  2. Toothpaste is fab for acne: Basically, I break out during my periods and this is when I used this trick. I took a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on my index finger and applied it on the affected area, and kept it overnight. When I rinsed it in the morning, the redness and the size of the pimple had reduced considerably. But do you know why this happens? Let me tell you! Toothpaste has baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, which are known to dry the zit.
  3. Blackheads were gone too: On my dentist’s recommendation, I keep switching my toothpaste every month. When I got a variety with beads-like crystals in it, I used it to remove my blackheads. And surprisingly, it has exfoliated my T-zone so well that I’m no more dependent on my salon for those regular clean-ups.

But ladies, I want to warn you that before you give these hacks a shot. If you have very sensitive skin or extremely dry skin, you must do a patch test on your wrist. You can also run this test on the back of your neck. If you feel a burning sensation or irritation, give toothpaste for skin a skip, because it’s a sign that this hack is not for you.

Also, it will be great if you mix toothpaste with some soothing agents like honey, rosewater, etc so the toothpaste is gentle on your skin.

Go for toothpaste that has less or no sulfate at all. Another tip that will come in handy is that you must make sure that it doesn’t over-dry otherwise it can have adverse effects.

So this is it! I have been a little cautious too, but now I’m a big fan of this toothpaste for skin trick. Hope it will help you too!
