Acne and pimples are the pesky skin problems that dampen our dreams of beautiful and clear skin. While many get these ‘glow ruiners’ on their cheeks, some women are worried about their forehead pimples. If the pimples on your forehead are bringing your mood and look down, you are at the right place. We are here to decode the reasons for their springing up and setting camp on your top face.

To get some valid and expert-backed answers on the ‘return of pimple village’ on your forehead, HealthShots spoke to Dr Monica Kapoor, a celebrity cosmetologist and Director at FLAWLESS Cosmetic clinics.

Dr Kapoor lists following reasons for getting forehead pimples:

1. Not washing your hair enough

You may think that not washing your hair often will only jeopardize the health of your hair, but that’s not true. An unclean and dirty scalp becomes a breeding spot of bacteria and germs that can easily crawl up to your forehead and accelerate acne. So, run and grab that shampoo, girl!

2. Stress

Stress can also stimulate acne or forehead pimples. Stress leads to a bunch of skin concerns such as premature ageing, wrinkles and, most importantly, affects the ideal sebum production. Dr Kapoor says, “As the oil production goes haywire, excessive sebum spurs acne.”

3. Dandruff

Dandruff plays a major role in the appearance of forehead pimples. The tiny dandruff flakes due to an itchy and dry scalp may fall on your forehead and lead to pimples and acne. Dr Kapoor suggests that dandruff is caused by fungal infections and when it falls on the face, pimples can pop out. Using an anti-dandruff shampoo may help clear them out.

4. Hormonal change

Hormonal imbalances and changes are one of the biggest reasons for forehead pimples. Changes in the body during puberty can cause certain variations in the body and pimples are one of them. “During puberty, our body goes through a lot of internal changes and releases a lot of heat. Due to this pimples may appear. And while this is true for everyone, it becomes more prominent in some women,” adds Dr Kapoor.

5. Certain medications

Few medications like birth control pills, if taken frequently and uncontrollably, can cause acne and pimples on the forehead. Therefore, it is crucial to contact your doctor if you’re on pills and medications and are observing forehead pimples.

These are all the reasons involved in the acne invasion on your forehead. Try to follow a good hair hygiene and avoid self medication. Not to forget, show some extra love to your skin and it may love your back!
