Summer is usually synonymous to heat, sweat, dirt and grime getting collected on our skin. The ones who usually step outdoors either to run errands or for some work have to take extra care so that their skin health remains intact.

So, in both seasons, there can be two different regimes for the same face.
Here are some tips suggested by the expert to layer your skincare in summer the right way.

1. Use a cleanser that exfoliates

“In summer, our oily skin can imbibe to all the dirt, and grime that is there outside. So, you can start basic, with a face wash/cleanser. You can go for a face wash that is exfoliating as well. If you tend to sweat too much or have an oily texture, you can have a face wash which can exfoliate and has certain actives,” suggests the expert.

You can easily swear by an exfoliating cleanser or face wash in the summers as it helps deeply cleanse your clogged pores, thus preventing skin issues.

2. A toner is always a must

People with oily or acne-prone skin can get their issues more acute in summer. So, toners are a must-have as they work on clogged pores and greasy skin caused by heat and sunscreen. You can opt for toners that have aloe vera, green tea extracts, and vitamin E or C that help stop the formation of new acne and give a blow to acne-causing bacteria from the root.

3. Use a light water-based moisturizer

“Like winter, your should not opt for a thick or gooey moisturizer. You can go for a very light, water-based or gel-based moisturizer that doesn’t clog pores and just seals the cleansed skin, “says the expert.

4. Sunscreen is non-negotiable

The same rule goes for sunscreens, they can be very light or gel-based as per the changing weather. In fact, in summer, sunscreen sprays can be used on the face and body. You may apply water-based sunscreen on the face.

PERSONALISE NOW

If you wish to apply makeup, you can apply it at the last after the sunscreen. In case you are stepping out, you can carry a spray of sunscreen for touch-ups after a while.

5. The night routine

The expert says, “Your night skincare routine stays intact, cleansing, toning and moisturising. However, if there is any makeup on your skin, first remove it off using a makeup remover. Alongside, you can apply a non-sticky serum like there are a lot of water-based vitamin C serums available in the market. Vitamin C has depigmentation properties and it also soothes the skin in summer.”

The oily skin beauties can also give retinol a try in the summer as it feels very dry in winter. Lastly, you can lock it up with a proper moisturizer.
