Social media is busy commemorating the very first anniversary of the lockdown amidst the fast-spreading coronavirus. People are sharing memes and funny videos about the events happening last year during this time. Everyone is choosing their own way to commemorate this day and Bollywood yogini, Shilpa Shetty is not far behind!

Shilpa has posted a video sharing 3 intense yoga poses that anyone can do at home to stay active and fit. Here’s the list:

  1. Eka Hasta Utthita Chaturanga Dandasana (low plank)
  2. Vasisthasana (side plank)
  3. Utthita Chaturanga Dandasana (plank pose)
Here’s the Instagram message shared by Shilpa

“Some mornings bring in a different kind of energy. Exactly a year ago, the Janta Curfew was levied to ensure we can curb the effects of the pandemic. But, the situation continues to be worrisome. So, today’s Yoga session was a little more intense than usual. Today’s flow involved Eka Hasta Utthita Chaturanga Dandasana, Vasisthasana, and Utthita Chaturanga Dandasana. This powerful combination of asanas helps strengthen the wrist, arms, and shoulders. It also helps build core strength, improves balance, & concentration, and helps tone the arms. It effectively works on the entire body. Take good care of yourselves; we can overcome this and we will! Tab tak… swasth raho, mast raho!”

We know you must be excited to try these poses. But, before you do that, we have some information to share with you.

If you have any of these medical conditions then these plank poses are not meant for you

Without a doubt, Shilpa Shetty is one of the fittest actresses of Bollywood and it takes a lot to maintain that level of fitness. But it is even harder to achieve something like this if you’re new to fitness and are suffering from any health condition. So, before you try these yoga poses, keep these things in mind:

  1. If someone is suffering from any arm, shoulder, or wrist injury, they should avoid doing these yoga poses as there is immense pressure on these body parts.
  2. If someone has carpal tunnel syndrome, they should simply skip performing these asanas because engaging in planks puts pressure on the elbow.
  3. People with blood pressure problems should also stay away from these plank positions.
  4. Those who have a leg injury, especially in the thigh region, should avoid these poses.

If you’re not suffering from any of these conditions, feel free to try out these poses right at home. Don’t forget to thank Shilpa for sharing her secret to stay fit!
