Yoga has slowly but surely become a significant part of life for actress Rakul Preet Singh. To stay healthy and fit, she ensures a balanced and holistic mix of yoga and HIIT sessions in a week. Her prowess at performing the simplest and most complex of yoga asanas is there for all to see on her Instagram page. But what are some of Rakul Preet Singh’s most favourite yoga poses? Come, let’s find out.

Considering she has busy shooting schedules and a jam-packed social calendar, one would easily assume the actress must be hard-pressed for time. So, in a recent Health Shots interview with Rakul Preet Singh, we asked her about her 5 go-to yoga poses that she performs whenever she is short on time. But her response surprised us – pleasantly, of course!

Here’s what the De De Pyaar De actress had to say.

Pehli cheez toh kabhi khaali 5 nahin hoga (The first thing is that it will never be 5 yoga postures)! No matter how hard-pressed I am for time, I will make time for my workout because that is something I do for myself. If in 24 hours, I can’t give 1 hour to myself, then I’d say that I’m truly bad at time management,” she said.

The 31-year-old actress follows the discipline even if she has early morning shoots.

“No matter what time I am working at… If it’s a 6 a.m. shoot, I would make time for a workout even at 4 a.m.,” added the dedicated actress, whose love for yoga is courtesy her trainer friend Anshuka Parwani.

Rakul Preet Singh’s favourite 5 yoga asanas

These are the yoga asanas that she truly loves:

1. Malasana

“This is the first thing I do in the morning. It helps me open my legs and have some blood flow in the body. The squat position also helps me stretch properly before I start any form of workout,” Rakul shared.

2. Kapotasana

Variations of the Kapotasana or pigeon stretches are what Rakul enjoys a lot because they are perfect for the lower body. They stretch the hips, thighs and glutes.

3. Bhujangasana

One of the most commonly performed yoga poses, Bhujangasana or Cobra Pose is Rakul’s go-to yoga posture to give her spine, abdomen, chest and shoulders a nice stretch. It helps to keep her spine and shoulders erect.

4. Sarvangasana

The shoulder stand is an inversion pose which has all-round benefits for the mind and body. An advanced yoga pose, Sarvangasana is good for blood circulation, strength building, improving digestion, calming stress and anxiety, and more.

5. Halasana

From the shoulder pose, Rakul loves the shift to the plow pose or Halasana, which gives the entire body a good stretch. It involves making your body going upside down with your feet over your head! “When you do this, it is amazing to feel the stretch in the body the opposite way!”

Rakul Preet Singh’s choice of yoga asanas

“If I have these 5 yoga asanas covered, I know my body won’t be feeling stiff. It helps me cover the back, glutes, midriff, shoulders and more… helping me stretch everything,” Rakul said.

Rakul Preet Singh on the importance of a balanced diet

Apart from performing her set of yoga asanas, as well as doing HIIT exercises, Rakul ensures her diet is in order. Her Instagram followers would know it already that she’s all for eating healthy. Rakul’s Ayurveda hacks are quite fun to follow too!

She believes 80 percent of a person’s health is to be credited to what one consumes.

“People say abs are made in the kitchen and I find it true. Maybe, you can have a week of no workout, but a week of bad eating is going to take you a couple of months to get back on track. I’m a strong believer of no-fad diets, and a no-fad lifestyle. If you truly want to be healthy, it has to be a lifestyle change. You have to love it,” asserted Rakul.

An advocate for eating healthy and clean food, she added: “I like to put good food in my body so that my body supports me through my hectic schedule, and doesn’t say ‘Achha bhai, pack up!'”
