We Indians are in love with green chillies. From adding them to curries to eating them raw, we like the spark they ignite in us. That’s why this spicy condiment is an important part of all our meals. Not to mention, the antioxidant content of hari mirch makes it beneficial for almost every organ in your body. But the information we want to instill today might be a little new for you.

So guys, the tea is that green chilies burn fat like a pro. And experts agree with this too.

Eating green chillies can boost your metabolism
Did you know that eating green chillies can boost your metabolism by almost 50%? That’s the reason why you end up losing weight. According to Sushma, a dietician at Jindal Naturecure Institute, green chillies have an antioxidant called capsaicin which increases the warmth in the body and increases the metabolic rate.

This leads to an increase in blood circulation which impacts our palate ultimately bestowing us with weight loss. “Also, green chilies are also low in calories,” she adds.

Interesting isn’t it? But this definitely doesn’t mean that you need to gorge on chillies all day long. Eating about 12 to 15 grams of green chilies in a day is enough. Otherwise it can lead to acidity and other gut issues.

“People tend to eat raw green chilies as if it’s a meal in itself which is totally wrong. You can include it in a salad, chutney, or pickle and then consume it to protect your stomach,” explains Sushma.

Chillies can prevent diabetes too
Capsaicin works here too. “Green chilies help in maintaining sugar level in diabetic patients. But for that they need to consume at least 30 grams of green chillies in a day. It will directly impact the metabolism which indirectly improves the absorption of sugar in your body”, she explains.
