The solution? Well, get over the laziness, feel more active, and reclaim your productivity—all this by adding these five high-energy foods to your diet recommended by Ms. Avni Kaul, nutritionist, wellness coach, and founder, NutriActivania Clinic, Saket, Delhi:

1.  Khichdi
You might not have touched this holy mixture of dal and rice despite your mom’s insistence all your life. However, this is just the right time to lean on the good-old khichdi and reap its benefits.

“Khichdi is a combination of complex carbohydrates and protein. While rice is a vital source of energy, dal contains protein. It is a wholesome meal that also helps you feel fuller for longer. If you make it using moong dal, it’s even better because this dal contains vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus,” says Kaul.

2. Vegetable dalia
“Dalia is a great source of protein, and protein takes a longer time to get digested. It also boosts metabolism and activates weight-regulating hormones. Besides, porridge is low in calories,” Kaul explains.

Not to mention, the extra dose of fiber and vitamins from all the veggies you add to your dalia can amp up your energy levels and boost your mood like no other.

3. Bajra (millet) roti
Bajra or millet has a low glycemic index, which means it doesn’t spike your blood-sugar levels instantly upon consumption. Plus, Kaul mentions that it is one of the top energy-boosting food sources.

“Its insoluble fibre assists in the slow release of carbohydrates into your body, thus giving you energy over a longer period of time and keeping your blood glucose in control,” she adds.

5. Bananas
Bananas are a fantastic source of carbohydrates, potassium, and vitamin B6. All of them can assist in increasing energy levels in your body and in keeping you active through the day.
