There are several theories propagated by health experts, leaving one confused as to what’s right or wrong! For as long as we can remember, it was a sin to have anything post dinner or close to your bedtime, because well extra calories. Plus some would also say that it increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Now of course if you binge on calorie-heavy desserts and fried food before hitting the sack, this is bound to happen. But consuming certain fat-burning beverages before bedtime (only in small amounts) is going to help you in many ways. To begin with, it will help you get better sleep, and the best part, you will lose weight too!

So without further ado, let’s find out about some fat-burning drinks:

1. Greek yoghurt protein shake

If you are someone who works out, then having protein before bedtime is a good idea. It helps to repair and rejuvenate the muscles, while you sleep. This essentially means that the more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns.

Milk is a powerhouse of calcium and tryptophan, which are both believed to improve quality of sleep. Plus, milk contains two kinds of dairy protein—whey and casein, and the latter is a slow-releasing protein that is said to enhance muscle building in the long run.

So make yourself a glass of this shake by just using unsweetened soy or almond milk, and add greek yoghurt to it. You could also add some honey for sweetness.

2. Chamomile tea

We’ve all heard how chamomile tea helps with better sleep. For the unversed, it is a known sedative in countries like Germany, Belgium, France and the UK. It increases the levels of glycine in the body, a kind of neurotransmitter that relaxes your nerves and makes you feel sleepy. Not many know that it is also great for an upset stomach.

Research also suggests that chamomile tea helps with glucose control and weight loss. So, sip on a cup of warm chamomile tea before your bedtime, and shed unwanted fat while you sleep.

3. Cinnamon tea

As we already know, cinnamon or dalchini is loaded with health benefits. It is a kitchen staple in Indian households, and is known for its metabolism-boosting properties. What’s more, it also has various antioxidant and antibiotic properties, making it the perfect detox drink that not just helps to burn more fat, but also helps you with better sleep. If you don’t like the taste of cinnamon tea as it is, then add a pinch of honey for some sweetness.
