Jamun is a summer favourite for many people, but its benefits for diabetics especially cannot be undermined. This black plum with a tangy taste comes from Myrtaceae, which is an evergreen tropical tree native to India, Indonesia and Bangladesh. For the unversed, it is best known for its ability to manage blood sugar levels. And jamun seeds are as beneficial as they have several health benefits apart from being a powerhouse for diabetes management, leading to increase in insulin production.

“The seeds of jamun contain chemical compounds called jamboline and jambosine that decrease the rate at which sugar is released into the bloodstream. Jamun seeds also increase the production of insulin thereby making it excellent for diabetics,” celebrity nutritionist Shweta Shah told HealthShots.
