We guess it was the Sibling Day special video that was posted by our Gen-Z star Sara Ali Khan along with her brother Ibrahim Khan where the brother-sister duo was seen sipping coffee. The only difference was that Mr Khan was sipping a creamy and frothy cold coffee, while Sara was sipping on cold black coffee with zero sugar and milk, to manage weight.

This was something that literally brought out ‘the eureka moment’ for us because we all know hot black coffee is known for weight loss. The problem is that in the summer season, sipping on hot black coffee is almost next to impossible and coffee lovers can simply sulk in silence.

But thanks to Sara for bringing cold black coffee into the spotlight! Now the question arises whether the cold black brew is as good as hot black coffee or not, especially when it comes to weight loss? Come let’s find out.

Can cold black coffee help you lose weight? Amazingly, YES

Who would have thought, right? When we asked ace nutritionist Parul Malhotra about the benefits of cold black coffee, she went gaga about it.

Here is how cold black coffee will help you with weight loss

1. Cold black coffee boosts your metabolism too

Similar to hot brewed coffee, cold brew coffee contains caffeine, which has been shown to increase resting metabolic rate by up to 11 percent. Caffeine boosts metabolic rate by increasing how quickly your body burns fat.

2. It pauses the production of glucose

Cold/hot black coffee contains chlorogenic acid, which helps to slow down glucose production in the body. This means that if you drink black coffee after a meal, then your body will produce less glucose and fat cells.

3. Cold coffee keeps you energized

Cold brew black coffee is rich in caffeine, which helps in the stimulation of metabolic activity and increases energy level, thereby suppressing hunger. This makes you munch on less and helps you keep a tab on your extra calorie intake.

“Also, cold-brewed coffee is less bitter than hot brewed coffee which helps people to have it plain without any additives like creamer, milk or sugar (main reasons to add calories),” says Parul Malhotra.

4. It’s a low-cal drink that is great for weight loss

Cold brew black coffee is a low-calorie drink, and also does not contain fats or cholesterol. This means that you do not put on any weight by drinking it even daily.

5. Cold black coffee prevents water retention too

If you find your lower belly way too bulky, it’s because of water retention. And cold coffee is here to rescue you. Apart from the weight loss, the other cold black coffee benefit is the reduction of water content in the body. As a result of frequent urination, one reduces excess water from the body, which further helps in temporary weight loss.

Here’s how you can make this cold brew at home

You don’t have to step out or order a cup of cold black coffee because it is no rocket science to prepare it. Just take a glass, add a few ice cubes, add water, put some coffee (as strong as you want it to be), give it a stir, and sip. That’s it!

If you want, you can definitely add some natural flavors like lemon, sweet lime juice, pineapple juice, etc but just a little bit.

So, no more shying away from that black brew during summer. Just take a sip of the cold version and let it do its job.
