Holi colours are bad for hair

They come in multiple bright colours, making them attractive. However, covering your hair with Holi colours can be quite damaging. Dr Kochhar says that they have various harmful chemicals like lead, zinc, copper sulphate, aluminum bromide, mercury and asbestos. They are used to manufacture coloured powders that can make your hair dry and brittle.

If you love your hair, you must heavily oil your tresses before the colour splash happens. So, it’s not just Holi colour, but also oil on your hair that needs to br washed away. The expert suggests to shampoo your hair at least two times so that to all the dirt and oil get washed out of your hair. But you also need to keep the moisture in your hair, so use natural ingredients that will to fight dryness.

Here’s what to add to your shampoo and use before using the cleanser!

1. Hair mask with vinegar and milk

Take 1 teaspoon of Glycerine, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, a bit of milk, shampoo and conditioner in a container and mix well to make a pack. Apply it on your hair and leave it on for about 20 minutes then rinse it off.

2. Hair mask with egg and curd

Benefits of using curd on hair are many. So, to nourish your hair, form a paste by mixing two tablespoons of curd and one egg. Apply this paste from the roots to the tips of your hair and keep it for about 30 minutes. After that, you can wash your hair with shampoo.

4. Hair mask with lemon

Lemon, which has acidic properties, is perfect for your hair mask, says Dr Kochhar. Lemon juice can help to get rid of dandruff and also works as the perfect ingredient to remove Holi colours. Take a bowl and add curd along with just a few drops of lemon juice. Mix the two and apply the mixture gently over your scalp. You can massage gently with light hands, as this will help to balance out the acid-alkaline balance in your hair.
