Whether your are dealing with an unhappy client at work or undergoing difficult times at home and personal life, we all experience stress every single day. And you cannot deny that we all get worked up when we experience that.

Luckily, there are several ways to combat it quickly and just under 5 minutes. Guess what? It doesn’t really need your entire day.

4 ways to help you reduce stress:

1. Take deep breaths

As we all know that breathing is an automatic function of the body, our breathing rate and pattern alters once we are stressed. If you are anxious, you tend to take small, shallow breaths. So in order to manage stress, you need to deliberately change your own breathing style improve symptoms of prolonged anxiety. With abdominal breathing, you can control the nervous system and trust that your body will relax, thereby bringing about a range of health benefits.

2. Do child’s pose

Child’s pose or balasana is one of the simplest of all yoga poses, and it’s extremely beneficial in promoting relaxation (both physically and mentally). It is actually included in yoga sessions to effectively manage anxiety as it also works as a resting pose during routine yoga workouts. It relaxes the tension that gets build up in the neck, shoulders, and back.

3. Drink water

If you are dehydrated, there are higher chances that you might feel stressed. It is a vicious cycle that dehydration can cause stress and vice versa. For those who don’t know, when you are stressed, your adrenal glands lead to production of extra cortisol, the stress hormone, and if you are under chronic stress, the adrenal glands can become exhausted, bringing the electrolyte levels to lower levels. Drinking sufficient water is highly recommended to reduce stress.

4. Listen to music

Most of us tend to believe that we forget the world around when we are listening to our favourite music. It helps us get through the day and is sometimes helpful in pumping us before an important moment.
