Vaginal infections are common among women of all ages. It is basically a kind of infection that happens in your vaginal area, and is generally caused due to several reasons, such as unbalanced pH levels, high sugar intake, bacterial growth, douching, contraception, harmful soaps, and also because of multiple sexual partners. 

When it comes to treating the infection, there is an array of home remedies available. Surprisingly, tea tree essential oil is also on the list! Although there isn’t much evidence to support tea tree oil’s effectiveness for treating vaginal infection, let’s just tell you how it works!

Tea tree oil is an essential oil that has antifungal and antibacterial properties thus, it can cure infections, which are caused by bacteria and heal wounds too. In fact, a 2003 study examined tea tree oil as a treatment for the common yeast infection strain candida albicans, including 14 drug-resistant derivatives. This study found that tea tree oil was effective against all strains.

Also, tea tree oil is known for its antiseptic and antibiotic properties, which fight the fungus growth around your vagina and can also keep your vagina moisturised. Therefore, you can say bye-bye to itching and burning as well. All in all, tea tree oil is a completely safe remedy to treat the infection. 

Here’s how you can use tea tree oil for vaginal infection:
Ingredients you’ll need:
  • Water
  • Epsom salt
  • 15-20 drops of tea tree oil

How to do:
  • Take half a tub of lukewarm water.
  • Add half a quarter cup of Epsom salt with water. Mix well.
  • Now, add drops of tea tree oil to the water. Stir well to ensure that the oil is completely dissolved in water.
  • Soak your lower half of the body in water.
  • Stays in water for 15 minutes.

Repeat the process two times a day for quick results!

Vaginal infections are more likely to occur during the monsoon season, due to the increased humidity in the weather. So these are tips you can follow to maintain good vaginal health throughout the season: 

  1. Wear breathable cotton underwear for better airflow. This will allow your vagina to stay dry and airy down there.
  2. Don’t use douching, because it can hamper the pH balance of your vagina.
  3. Avoid eating spicy foods to reduce the chances of infections.
