Who doesn’t enjoy some cozy time with their partners between the sheets? But is it just about the act or more? It is often said that communication is the secret to a healthy relationship, both inside and outside the bedroom. Well yes, that’s true. And to help us understand this better, is Seema Anand, Kamasutra expert, author, and a pleasure-focused sex educator.

In a recent Instagram post, she talks about how conversations in bed can be arousing. Laying emphasis on section two of the Kamasutra, Anand adds that the conversations before sex must be gossipy and naughty, and must bring down inhibitions that can get you into each other.

As per research, couples who have strong sexual communication are more satisfied with their sex lives. With more open communication, there will be greater feelings of intimacy and a stronger relationship.

It is also critical to address the desire to try out new things, if that’s what’s on your mind. You can also speak about any changes in libido or sexual dysfunction that you are facing.

Conversations about sex

Sex is an act that brings out a lot of emotions, including your vulnerability. Getting the body back into a regulated state is important, and hence sexual aftercare is a good practice. It can include anything from cuddling, massaging, kissing, holding hands, or more.

“After sex, it’s about happy, beautiful, and calm conversations. It is about stories of people being happy together, “ adds Anand.

Since people are generally more vulnerable after sex, it is important to avoid critiquing your partner’s performance. The other thing you must not do is to comment on their bodies, because they have shared an intimate moment with you.

Also, if you think it’s a good idea to address issues that are causing a conflict between the two of you, stop it right away. At that very moment, enjoy the cuddle sesh, instead of bringing such subjects. Leave those conversations for regular times.

We also have another tip for you: DO NOT compare your ex’s sexual experiences. Of course, it’s essential to discuss things, but doing it immediately after sex is a big no-no! Similarly, it’s best not to discuss very serious subjects or convince your partner to do things the way you like, if he/she was not comfortable with something earlier. This can be viewed as rather manipulative, so don’t do it!
