As humans, we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes, our weaknesses get the better of us, so much so that they alter our personalities. No, we aren’t saying it’s a crime, because we all have flaws—and that’s exactly what makes us human! But if flaws give rise to major insecurities that distort the way we think and behave, then it’s definitely a HUGE problem. If left unchecked, they can wreak havoc on several areas of our lives, including our relationships.

The situation goes out of hand, when you start acting on your insecurities, either becoming too dependent on your partner or becoming completely distant from them. If you know what we mean, then go ahead and read about all the signs that show that you are insecure in a relationship!

1. You have trouble trusting your partner

There’s no denying that love is an important part of a romantic relationship, but so is trust. If your insecurities come in the way of trusting your partner, then it’s definitely going to be difficult for you to open up to them emotionally. This is going to affect your relationship in so many ways, because it will restrict the kind of emotional intimacy you can have. All in all, it is detrimental for your relationship.

2. You internalise your negative thoughts and turn them into actions

We all have negative thoughts from time to time, but if you find yourself trapped in the cycle of self-doubt every now and then, you are bound to internalise your negative thoughts and act a certain way. It is said that if you do the same thing over and over again, it becomes a habit. Eventually, it becomes a part of your relationship, affecting your partner and making things toxic. You may think it’s pretty normal, but it’s eating into your relationship, little by little!

PERSONALISE NOW

Again, we all are curious to know who our partners have dated before us. But if you obsess over the details and constantly compare yourself with them, then it’s definitely dangerous for your relationship. Even if your partner is completely into you, he is going to get put off with the constant comparison. In a nutshell, it could be a deal-breaker for any healthy relationship.

4. Your partner needs to constantly reassure you

Reassurance from your partner on and off is not a bad thing, we all need it. But if your partner needs to validate every action, then ladies there’s a serious problem. And in case they get fed up reassuring you, then your insecurities are only going to multiply. This also shows that you are over dependent on your partner to boost your self-confidence, which is not a good sign. So, try and work on your insecurities, and your dependence on your partner will begin to reduce.

5. Your existence is all about your partner

When you are involved in a romantic relationship, there’s a lot you and your partner will do together. But does not mean EVERYTHING! You both need to lead your individual lives, and that means hanging out with your own set of friends, and doing the things you like. If you find yourself doing anything and everything that your partner likes, even if you have no interest in it, goes on to show that you are highly insecure in a relationship.
