Needless to say, a heart problem can not only be life-threatening but also reduce the quality of life. Along with regular check-ups, heart patients can minimize their heart health problems and the risk of it by adopting a healthy diet plan!

In order to take care of the heart, you need the right diet. We talked to a well-known clinical nutritionist, Lovneet Batra, and she shed light on the additions you need to make to the diet of someone suffering from heart diseases.

Here is the list of 6 foods that she suggested to help you with heart issues:

  1. Eat vegetables that are high in fibre

We know the Importance of vegetables when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. People who include a healthy amount of vegetables in their diet are likely to have a lower risk of developing chronic diseases.

Batra says, “Consuming vegetables which are high in fiber can be very beneficial for a person who is suffering from cardiovascular diseases as they are low in calories and fat but contain multiple nutrients needed by the body. In addition, you should pick out seasonal vegetables for the best results. You can add vegetables like spinach, broccoli, carrots, green beans, brussels sprouts, and pumpkin to your diet. They are all good sources of fiber.”

  1. Add high fibre whole grain to your diet

Whole grains are a great choice when it comes to heart diseases because they are packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Lovneet also trusts whole grains when it comes to heart problems.

“People with heart disease should definitely consume whole grain such as daliya, steel-cut oats, and basmati rice,” she suggests.
