Dr Rekha Radhamony, an Ayurvedic doctor, also recommends this milk to her patients, who suffer from heart diseases and arthritis. Research says that it also lowers cholesterol before bedtime, and also increases breast milk supply in lactating mothers.

Here’s how to make garlic milk to beat acidity and bloating at home

According to the expert, this acidity home remedy finds a mention in the Charaka Samhita Chikitsa Sthana.

Ingredients:

5 gms garlic
50 ml water
50 ml milk

Method
1. Add garlic paste to milk and water.
2. Boil it until the quantity is reduced to 50 ml.
3. Strain and drink 10 ml after food twice daily.

What are the other benefits of garlic?

As Indians, we use garlic in almost all our dishes, because of its strong flavour and delicious taste. However, in Ayurveda, it garlic is regarded as a medicine, due to the presence of allicin, an unstable compound, which is briefly present in fresh garlic after it’s been cut or crushed. What’s more, it also contains other compounds like diallyl disulfide and s-allyl cysteine. The sulfur compounds present in garlic also have potent biological effects.

In fact, one large, 12-week study found that a daily garlic supplement reduced the number of colds by 63 percent, as compared to a placebo. Another study also validated that a high dose of aged garlic extract reduced the number of days sick with cold or flu by 61 percent.

2. Helps improve cardiovascular health:

We already know about the rising incidence of heart attacks and strokes. This is mainly due to uncontrolled blood pressure or hypertension. Several studies show that garlic supplements have a significant impact on blood pressure levels, especially in those who have high blood pressure.

3. Helps lower cholesterol:

Did you know? Garlic can help lower cholesterol levels, especially in those who suffer from high cholesterol. As of now, research studies are not conclusive, but they show that garlic appears to have an impact on LDL, but nothing on HDL or even triglyceride levels.
