You can reverse diabetes, PCOS, and many more such conditions. Yes, the news is absolutely right. Phew! And you know many examples like Sara Ali Khan, Sonam Kapoor, etc who have dealt with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), but look at them now. Just like them, there are many other shining examples around us, who have beaten these deadly diseases and how.

Having said that, disease reversal doesn’t happen overnight. And only medicines are NOT going to help. You have to make many amendments to your lifestyle and routine to press pause to the infection.

According to Dr Jayant Thakuria, senior consultant, internal medicine from Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad, most diseases can be reversed, if we have a proper lifestyle and if we can treat them early. Almost 80% of the diseases that we have nowadays can be reverted, if we can treat them properly.

Here are six diseases that can be reversed with grit and determination

  1. Type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is a serious, long-term medical condition which develops mostly in adults, but is becoming more common in children. Several factors contribute to type 2 diabetes. Being overweight or having obesity is the biggest risk factor. This condition can be life-threatening, but if treated carefully, it can be managed or even reversed. Monitoring the blood sugar levels and using medication/insulin, when needed, can help diabetes to reverse. Losing weight through diet and exercise can also help reverse diabetes.

  2. Obesity

Severe obesity is not an illness, but it can increase the risk of a wide range of health conditions, some of which can be life-threatening. Obesity can lead to heart diseases, stroke, body pain, gallbladder disease etc. In most cases, severe obesity is reversible. Consuming plenty of fruits and vegetables, avoiding trans-fat and saturated fat, limiting the intake of sugar, eating more slowly etc can help in reversing obesity.

  3. Stress

Nowadays, people have lots of stress, which causes a number of diseases. Chronic stress takes a toll on the body, and it contributes to everything from high blood pressure and heart disease to anxiety, and digestive disorders. Managing stress helps control many chronic conditions or reduces the risk of developing them. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and sound sleep can enable onemanage stress.

  4. HIV

One of the most common illnesses today is HIV. If treated in time, we can prevent further damage to our body. Proper and regular treatment for HIV patients with antiretroviral therapy (ART) can help patients live longer and healthier lives.

  5. Tuberculosis

If treated early, we can prevent further damage to the lungs or any part of the body. For active TB disease, treatment with a combination of antibacterial medications for a period of time is done. One should continue taking the medication as prescribed by the doctor, as not completing the entire course of medication could also contribute to drug-resistant TB. This combination of anti-bacterial medication can cure the disease, if treated properly.

  6. Epidemic/pandemic

Just like coronavirus, any other epidemic or pandemic can be dealt with. If we can catch the early symptoms, we can prevent further damage to our bodies. In the past, these conditions could not be reversed or treated, but due to advancements in technology and the latest treatment modalities, we can prevent further damage to our bodies.

So ladies, if you are diagnosed with any of these conditions, don’t lose hope. Ask your physician to help you in reversing that disease.
