Most women in their late 20s are very ambitious, but they tend to ignore their health. They tend to set lofty goals for themselves, since they believe they are strong and have the confidence to climb up the ladder to success. The wish list is great, but the task lists are only getting longer. But due to the uncertainties brought on by the pandemic, the bodies of women are constantly changing during this time period, both mentally and physically, which is why they must pay heed to these things.

How to be healthy in your 20s

1. Healthy diet equals great lifestyle

Just because you are young and have the stamina to burn that palak paneer or that grande coffee from your favourite coffee shop, you cannot ignore a healthy diet. It is important to maintain a healthy diet that has a generous dose of vitamins and protein, in order to stay away from lifestyle diseases. A diet should be able to compensate for the nutritional needs of the body.

2. Mental health matters

The pandemic has not only taught us the importance of a well-balanced mental life, but it has also shown us the consequences. In the post-20s, most girls are reeling under various pressure brought on by their careers and personal lives. It helps, in the long run, to focus on mental well-being.

Regular meditation along with unwinding sessions that include activities such as reading, cycling, or just doing nothing will help you stay focused, and aid in a stress-free life.

Spending 10-15 minutes per day with yourself, practicing meditation, or reading about mental health prove to beneficial.

3. Regular health checkup

Please do not avoid that trip to your physician. A regular health checkup will help you keep a track of your vitals. Key parameters such as vitamin levels, blood sugars, and thyroid levels are to be monitored regularly. There are many hospitals that offer yearly packages on health tests, it is better to swipe that card there as well.

Every woman should get critical tests done such as PAP Smear at least once every year. This is a critical test to detect cervical cancer. The global studies show that early detection of cervical cancer helps in prevention and effective cure of the disease. Some of the other key tests that should be on the calendar after you turn 25, are blood tests to check sugar levels, skin cancer test, clinical breast examination and STD tests, among others.

4. Keep a tab on your immunity

Thanks to the pandemic, our lifestyles have taken a drastic turn and have impacted the health of many. Regular consultation with the family doctor will help you maintain healthy levels of immunity. Since you are in your late 20s, it gets all the more important to build a strong foundation of immunity to help build a healthier lifestyle for the future.

Eating foods such as walnuts, leafy greens and a healthy combination of salads will help you keep a tab on the health trends. Going easy on those chunks of cheese and french fries, and filling the plate with a lot of veggies and vegan foods will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle for long.
