It might sound a little weird but the truth is that sleeping naked is way healthier than sleeping wrapped in layers. It’s no news that sleeping well has multiple health benefits. Turns out, sleeping nude won’t just make you feel comfortable in your own skin but also induce quality sleep.

But, is it mere experience or is there any concrete science behind the benefits of sleeping naked? Matthew Walker, the author of Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Dreams and Sleep, has explained that sleeping in the nude regulates our body temperature. He has mentioned that our body temperature drops up to 2 °F, making our body feel cosy.

This also means that if your mum is going through hot flashes in the night because of menopause, you can totally suggest her to try this hack.

Apart from this, there are many surprising benefits that sleeping naked has in store for you. Let’s have a look at them:

1. Sleeping naked reduces stress
This practice is known to reduce the level of cortisol in your body. FYI, cortisol is the stress hormone. Not sleeping well makes us sluggish and cranky. At times, it leads to stress and headaches. Being nude under the sheets can make you sleep peacefully. In fact, if you are dealing with problems like insomnia, sleeping naked can help you deal with it naturally.

2. Sleeping in the nude keeps diseases at bay
Sleeping naked allows for blood to flow properly from your head to toes. When your blood circulates properly, it also helps in regulating your immunity levels. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sleeping well will make diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, and obesity stay away from you.

3. It burns calories
Turns out, sleeping has its own perks. Scientifically, sleeping naked helps in boosting your metabolism which further helps in keeping your body’s fat levels in check. That’s why, sleeping well can mean always staying in shape!

4. Sleeping in the nude will bring back that glow to your skin
A night of good and comfortable sleep will reduce the puffiness around your eyes, stabilise antioxidant levels and contribute to improving the melatonin levels in your body. This will bestow you with ageless beauty. Moreover, when you sleep naked, your skin can breathe better. This means that you sweat less and the chances of any skin infections reduce.

5. Your vagina will be healthier if you sleep naked
Let your vagina breathe while sleeping by avoiding any kind of uncomfortable underwear. A moist vagina makes for a rather comfortable home for bacteria, viruses, and yeast. It can certainly lead to some gross infections. But, sleeping naked will allow your vagina to breathe and keep dry.

So, ladies, it’s time to ditch your clothes when you go to bed!
