Motherhood is truly a journey — there are some of the biggest highs; after all, you bring a human into the world. If that’s not a superpower, what is? But what about the lows that creep into your lives in the postpartum period? They are as real as it gets and not as openly spoken about! A role model in the true sense — social media star, model, and mum Diipa Büller-Khosla has been candid about her trials and tribulations with motherhood, making sure she peppers it up with her little wins too!

In her recent post, she has put out a picture of her 8 month-postpartum tummy, and revealed how being a mother has been a true blessing for her. While Khosla has been appreciated for her post-pregnancy body, she bares it all here, speaking about the struggles that she went through.

Here’s what she writes, “This image marks my body at its 8 month postpartum mark, and I plan to celebrate it for all her power and resilience. It has been over 8 months since I gave birth to Dua and to this day, I’m continuously asked ‘How my body bounced back” so quickly. What you guys see is the reality of the current state of my body. That said, I wanted to share my journey and self battles that it took to get there.”

Take a look at her post:

How to embrace your postpartum body

Whether they are celeb mothers or normal people, everyone goes through their share of ups and downs. Insecurities and self-doubt can sometimes be debilitating, more so because of the lens from which society views mothers. The body goes through a million changes, and there’s immense pressure to look a certain way even after you deliver a child. Terms like ‘yummy mummy’ or ‘super mommy’ add to the pressure that a new mother already faces.

In a candid confession, Khosla reveals that she, too, has fought her share of battles. She says, “To be frank, there are times I still look at the changes that giving birth brought to my body, almost wanting to hide them. From my experience, yes – eating healthy, having a consistent workout regime and doing skin treatments is how one can bounce back to a large extent physically, the real challenge lies when you begin to prioritize yourself mentally.”

She talks about how acceptance is a key part of this journey. Khosla, who has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram, reveals she would not want to get back to her pre-birth body, and there’s a reason for that.

PERSONALISE NOW

“When you start to look at your body not for its flaws but instead for its power, you realize these changes are not embarrassing, they’re empowering,” adds the 31-year-old, who was earlier in the field of law.

Khosla says that it is this very body, with stretch marks and sagging skin, that brought a person to life. It is this very body that has helped her wake up every morning, and helped her be the mom she is.

The last word

“You do not need to accustom to society’s views of what a mother should look like, dress like or be like. Take your time to heal, learn to be kind to yourself , and don’t wait any longer to celebrate motherhood!,” concludes the influencer-cum-entrepreneur, who also runs an NGO which promotes equality for women, and spreads awareness on sexual rights and mental health.
