1. Rice flour and aloe vera face mask

Known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, rice flour puts a halt at aging skin, reduces UV damage to skin, and brightens the skin tone. It is also used as a natural exfoliator for mild scrubbing. On the other hand, the benefits of aloe vera include, eliminating acne, moisturizing the skin and lightening blemishes.

How to use:

To make this mild scrub, add 3 tablespoons of finely powdered rice flour into 2 teaspoons of freshly extracted aloe vera pulp. Mix cold water to make a paste. Using a brush or clean fingers, apply this scrub on your face and neck. Let it sit on your skin until partially dry before washing it off with cold water. This  scrub is known to immediately soothe and refresh your skin. Use this mask at least once or twice a week .

2. Fermented rice water face mist

According to Husain, “Rice is not just a staple grain in Asian cuisine, it is also reputed for its beauty enhancing properties. Fermented rice is a permanent ingredient of many beauty regimens in Korea and many East Asian countries. It has been a beauty secret to get Korean skin. Rice water can help in decreasing UV skin damage and promotes collagen formation too. This reverses the signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles and gives you a flawless glow.”

How to use:

For this, drain the water of boiled rice. Allow the rice water to cool completely and pour it into a spray bottle. You may also use the water from soaked rice for this home remedy. Let your rice soak in water overnight and drain out the water the next morning. Allow the water to ferment for 2-3 days before spraying it as a face spray in the morning and right before night.

3. Green tea facial rinse

Green tea is a superb ingredient for skincare considering its richness in antioxidants. It is also known for its cancer-fighting qualities. Green tea can help moisturize the skin, treat acne and reduce wrinkles. The polyphenols and six different types of catechins present in green tea, makes it an incredibly powerful ingredient for anti ageing and pore refining. Boil some tea leaves to make a cup of green tea as usual.  Allow the tea to cool completely and use it the last face rinse after washing your face each time. This will help in detoxifying your skin and aid in getting rid of pimples and breakouts. For best results, rinse your face with it at least twice a day.

4. Lemon and Strawberry face mask

“This mask is the easiest way to achieve Korean skin. The antioxidant properties in lemon and its vitamin C content is beneficial in preventing skin damage and premature ageing. Strawberry, a potent astringent, has anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant qualities that can cure acne, protect your skin from UV rays, and exfoliate dead skin cells too,” says Hussain.

How to use:

Mix two drops of lemon juice, 1 mashed strawberry, and 1 tablespoons of homemade yoghurt. Apply the mask on your facial skin and neck. Let the mask work its magic for 30 minutes before rinsing it off. Your skin will feel glowing and revitalized instantly. Repeat the technique twice a week for best results.

5. Invest in a washcloth

To get Korean skin, use a washcloth for exfoliating your skin in a gentle way. Dip the cloth in warm water and scrub the skin in gentle circular strokes. A damp washcloth that isn’t too abrasive as a regular bead scrub. This age-old method for exfoliation is a tried-and-true alternative to market bought abrasive scrubs and chemical peels.
