Months before the D-day arrives, brides-to-be get down to prep themselves to put their best foot forward. While clothes and jewellery play an important part in the overall look, you’ve got to work on feeling good from within. Stress in the last few months to look perfect can be nerve-wrecking. Brides tend to work extra hard to get in shape and look their best. And, under this pressure, many brides-to-be give in to fad diets or tend to eat less to lose weight. However, you must bear in mind that you cannot look good and feel great unless your body is properly nourished and gets adequate exercise. So, a top nutritionist has doled out some diet tips for glowing skin.

Giving up carbohydrates, starving or exercising instead of shopping till you drop are some common mistakes women can end up making. For some women, weight loss may be the goal, and for some, glowing skin may be all that one needs.

Veteran nutrition expert Anjali Mukerjee shared diet tips that brides-to-be can trust for a natural bridal glow.

Diet tips every bride-to-be can follow for glowing skin

1. Eat smaller meals more frequently

This is one of the most raved-about dietary tips that we hear now and then in our everyday lives. The expert notes, “Eat in smaller portions frequently as this will help reduce low blood sugar caused by stress. Besides, it is a good strategy to manage weight. Include at least 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables in your diet.”

By following this strategy, your body will never stay deprived of some of the most essential nutrients.

2. Include vegetable juices for detox

The expert suggests drinking at least 2 glasses of vegetable juice made from tomatoes, spinach, mint and coriander. This helps to detoxify your body and eliminate extra body odour.

3. Have more protein

Include at least 40-45 grams of protein in your diet via fish, egg whites, and dairy products or other protein-packed vegetarian options. Protein makes up all the cells in our body and is required for adequate functioning.

4. Sufficient calcium

As brides-to-be, you will have a lot of physical work to do, and the last thing you want is an aching body. So, increase your calcium intake and ensure that your diet provides you with sufficient energy to carry on with your duties.

5. Drink orange juice

Freshly squeezed orange juice feels oh-so-fresh. It is great for your skin and hair, and also provides easy-to-digest condensed nutrients to your body. However, exercise caution while drinking this and only if you are not struggling with weight issues. Orange juice is a perfect source of vitamin C, which is great for good skin.

6. Say no to refined foods for overall health

Keep away from refined foods made from maida. So, keep your favourite roomali roti, naan, noodles and pastas at bay as they can make the body retain water. This, in turn, make you feel bloated all the time.

7. Maintain water intake

Water intake is important to the body. Increase your water intake to at least 2-3 litres a day. This won’t just increase your hydration levels but also release toxins.

8. Low fat diet for perfect skin

If you have acne or acne-prone skin, blindly follow a low-fat diet with no more than 4-5 teaspoons (per day) of oil in your food.

9. Coconut water is your BFF!

According to Mukerjee, drinking coconut water at least twice a week can be good for your skin as well as gut health! It can also contribute towards better hair.

With these diet tips for glowing skin and healthy living, you can ace your look for your special day. Inculcating these healthy habits in daily life can also enhance your skin, gut and overall health for the long run!
