But, is there anything that can’t be fixed with food? Your dip in energy levels as you wake up may be due to morning fatigue. So, rather than hitting the snooze button on your alarm, nosh on these foods for an energy fix.

No, we’re not suggesting a breakfast menu but 4 food items that will energize your day and prepare you to conquer the world, ladies! First of all, that water bottle on your nightside is not for aesthetic purposes. It is for you to hydrate yourself before you step on the floor. A lot of times, we mistake dehydration for morning fatigue. Therefore, drinking water will banish that doubt.

In a chat with HealthShots, Kavita Devgan, a Delhi-based nutritionist and bestselling author, listed 4 things one must eat as a pre-breakfast snack for an instant energy boost.

“These 4 food items deliver energizing minerals, vitamins, multiple antioxidants, omega 3 and good fats, all conducive to stay energetic throughout the day.” says Devgan.

Here are 4 foods for energy you can have in the morning:

1. Pumpkin seeds

In recent years, pumpkin seeds or pepitas have been touted as a perfect healthy snack. And why shouldn’t they? From magnesium and copper to protein and zinc, pumpkin seeds offer it all. Not to forget, these seeds can bring down your sugar levels, due to their hypoglycemic properties. They are significantly high in tryptophan, an amino acid that makes serotonin, a happy hormone in your body. So, your morning may turn into a good one instantly as you munch on a spoonful of these!

2. Walnuts

As you fuel up for the day’s challenges, eating some walnuts is a hell yes! They are loaded with vitamin B6, thiamine, folic acid, phosphorus, magnesium and copper. So, they are made for an energy kick in the morning. Not to forget, they are diet-friendly and naturally gluten, sodium and cholesterol-free. The brimming quantity of omega-3, zinc, selenium, protein and vitamin B in walnuts also boosts your immune system.

3. Dates

To ensure you have no bad date, gorge on some healthy dates each morning! Dates, also known as khajoor, have multiple benefits to boast about. These give you that healthy sugar rush in the mornings along with dietary fiber and disease-fighting antioxidants like flavonoids, carotenoids and phenolic acid. Dates also aid digestion, so that you have that morning bowel movement! And, it may make you squirm but a morning turns into a good one when you evacuate your poop out of your system!

4. Almonds

From our mothers to nutritionists, everybody vouches for the benefits that almonds offer. From weight loss, good bone health, improving your moods, lowering risk of heart diseases, cancer to diabetes, almonds are a superfood for a reason. This doe-eyed snack significantly increases the levels of antioxidants in the bloodstream, lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow.
