A woman’s journey to motherhood is believed to be the most blissful event for her. It certainly changes her life, and the pregnancy and childbirth journey evoke the deepest love, tenderness and patience in her heart. It’s the time in her life which reinforces the strength that she is capable of. In terms of emotions, it’s a mixed bag. While there is happiness and fulfillment, there is lots of anxiety and emotional stress too. And when it comes to working moms, they often end up wondering how to strike the work-life balance.

Different sides of motherhood

Some mothers are certainly quite possessive and overwhelmed once they embrace motherhood, while others are calm and composed while understanding every situation. But that usually happens with females who have experienced enough to be uncomplaining. Most new mothers try to be a ‘superwoman’, and it can impact their mental health.

In the journey of becoming mothers and in the quest to achieve perfection, most women end up stretching their limits. In general, women are more committed professionals and want to attain perfection in their work, but also wish to remain doting mothers and wives. While they aim to brush shoulders with men around them, but they are judged at both fronts, at home as well as at the workplace.

How well a woman has been able to strike a balance between home, work, relationships and her own self is laid as the benchmark for her success. In an attempt to match with the set goals, most women tend to lose perspective to their happiness, peace and harmony.

In Indian society specifically, the mindset is that family comes first and the mother is the pivot of every family. If she is unwell, the entire household is shaken. Most often than not, females and specifically, new mothers don’t realize how important her health is and get their bodies overworked. So, all mothers need to be aware of their health issues before it is too late. It would not be wrong to say that only a healthy body can harbor a happy mind, and only a positive mind will be able to bring out the best in you, both as a mother and a professional. Hence, once the priorities are set, half the battle is won for mothers.
