Winter is here and so are lazy days when you just want to stay in bed. In fact, this time of year can bring on sniffles, coughs, and colds. And that’s not all! Bones and joints also go through aches and pains in winter. In such a situation, it may be difficult to focus on a weight loss plan. However, to lose weight and maintain a high level of energy, you can modify your diet and include some winter fruits in your diet.

HealthShots got in touch with Dr Rohini Patil, who is an MBBS and a nutritionist, to find out which fruits of the winter season can help you lose a few kilos.

Dr Patil says, “Winter is the season when your diet and exercise routine requires extra attention. Due to a drop in temperature, you tend to eat more and spend less time exercising. This means that, despite your high-calorie intake, you are burning fewer calories, resulting in weight gain. However, winter weight issues can be resolved with some exercise and diet control.”

Here are 9 winter fruits that can aid in weight loss during winter:

1. Oranges

This is an extremely rich source of vitamin C and has frequently been shown to be a natural fat-burning source. Vitamin C helps the body’s metabolism function normally, making oranges the best fruit for weight loss. They are high in water and satisfy your irregular hunger pangs.

2. Figs

Figs, also referred to as anjeer, are rich in dietary fibre, which can help you feel fuller for longer. It has an enzyme called “ficin” that promotes better and quicker digestion of food, which expedites the process of losing belly fat. It contains a wealth of nutrients, including copper, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.

3. Guava

When you get hungry in the winter, guava is a great snack. It tastes great, quenches your sugar cravings in the middle of the day, and when combined with a few nuts like almonds or walnuts, it truly meets the health quotient. It is also high in fibre and vitamin C, which can help prevent the winter flu.

4. Custard apple

It is well known that custard apple is a great source of vitamins and minerals, which are crucial for a variety of biological processes. Along with vitamins A and C, it also has considerable levels of iron, potassium, magnesium, and copper. Constipation, which is prevalent in the winter when digestion slows down, can be treated with the fibre in this food.

Furthermore, pineapple contains the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain. This enzyme aids in the metabolization of proteins, which aids in the reduction of belly fat.

6. Pomegranate

When it comes to shedding pounds, pomegranate is a super fruit. The antioxidant polyphenols in pomegranates boost the body’s metabolism. It prevents the buildup of arterial lipids, lowers LDL cholesterol, and harmful toxins, and increases blood flow throughout the body.

7. Starfruit

Starfruit is a popular fruit among dieters because it is low in calories and high in fibre. The presence of a sufficient amount of fibre increases metabolism, keeps you satiated, reduces appetite, and aids in weight loss. The natural dietary fibre content of star fruit helps to alleviate constipation symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, cramping, and diarrhoea.
